It all comes back around . . .
I guess I'll start from the beginning… I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and thought I’d end up in PT (physical therapy), but my gut told me otherwise. I remembered that when I was younger, I had notebooks upon notebooks filled with stories and scripts. I was also a HUGE film nerd (still am) and loved making “movies,” as I called them. I’d gather my siblings and friends to star in these little videos, and yes, I made them on iMovie.
Anyway, as I got older and into college, I actually enrolled in Film for my first year and dabbled in more advanced software. I just loved bringing stories to life. Anywhere I go, I can imagine a movie playing in my head. But, after that first year, I did switch my major to Exercise Science (I’m a huge gym junkie, thanks to my parents’ healthy habits!).
Before I graduated, I really didn’t know what I wanted to do with my degree. Go back to school? Become a personal trainer? (But I’m pretty introverted, so that sounded terrifying.) This is when my world kind of flipped. During my last year, I was sitting on my porch, staring at the woods (like I do), and I started daydreaming—what if there were fairies in there? What if I befriended them? (That would be SO COOL!)
So, after years of not writing a single thing, I was like, “Okay, let me just jot down these fairy thoughts,” and TADA—my first book was born! It wasn’t without struggles, though. I mean, I’d just spent all this time studying Kinesiology, only to rediscover this passion for writing. Funny how life works, right?
Now, I have a job and I write, and I’m beyond grateful that my passion for storytelling found its way back to me. It makes me so, so happy!
